The Imported From Detroit Ad from the Super Bowl
What is your favorite ad campaign?
We live in a media society. On average, ordinary people will be exposed to, at least, 3000 ad messages per day. How many do you remember? In surveys, the answer is, probably none. Why do companies spend so much money for so few impressions?
The answers to these questions will be found in the Advertising program at NMSU.
Simply stated, the advertisements that are remembered have a powerful impact on our economy and our society. The best messages sell and motivate and are the result of talented teams of trained advertising professionals. Our job, at NMSU, is to provide students with the tools and ideas that make their advertising efforts the ones that are remembered.
The
Advertising program at NMSU has a long and highly respected history. Our
students won the regional competition for National Advertising Student
Competition in 1998. Every year our students prepare for regional and national
competition. They create campaigns using every aspect of the industry. They
research, they plan, they create and they present. Our students, in teams,
compete with the best and come away with an experience that allows them to
compete on larger “stages,” after they graduate. We have participated in
National Advertising Student Competitions 9 years in a row. Journalism
Department Advertising Sequence graduates now work in diverse areas in the
advertising industry throughout the country and the world.
Advertising is the point at which communication and commerce meet. Students have diverse options for pursuing their unique interests, from the business end to the creative. Advertising students choose to train as copy writers, media planners, account executives, “creative producers,” and everything in between. Our program trains for the “new media” and emphasizes advertising for the online environment.
The Advertising Sequence is headed by Dr. Hwiman Chung who worked as an account planner for the 17th ranked agency in the world (Chrysler), and for Cheil Communications. Additionally, he worked for Continental Airline, UNiSYS computer, other worldwide companies. Dr. Chung is experienced in the “real world,” and his students leave our program with enthusiasm, experience and commitment.
Our success is measured by your success. Join us to achieve success in the advertising profession. Make your campaign the campaign that people remember and act on.
