Hwiman Chung, PhD – Professor – Department Head
Hwiman Chung earned his Ph. D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Masters at Michigan State University. He worked as an account executive at an advertising agency for 6 years and handled clients ranging from Airlines to Computer companies. His research interest is in e-commerce, with an emphasis on interactive advertising strategy. His projects have explored online consumer behavior and media usage, effectiveness of web ads, perceived intrusiveness of rich media, measuring Internet access, and the impact of sponsorship on perceived credibility of Web sites. He teaches introduction to advertising, advertising media planning, creativity and copy writing, mass communication research method, and interactive advertising courses at New Mexico State University. Dr. Chung is a member of the American Academy of Advertising (AAA) and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication ( AEJMC).
