Cynthia Nuñez – Broadcast Journalism, Print, & English

(SP 16)

What’s your Hometown?

El Paso, TX

What are your plans after graduation?

“I plan to work for a book publishing company. I want to do editorial work, and be able to publish books or stories. I also plan to finish writing a book that is in the making and hopefully get it publish. I want to travel and write about my experiences, as well as continue learning French to be able to speak it fluently.”

What would you say is one of your most memorable moments as an Aggie?

“The moment that stuck with me the most was during sophomore year, when I took my one and only class with Dr. Mac. In that moment, and for the rest of the semester, I realized that I could become a great writer. That I had the potential to do great things and with Dr. Mac’s encouragement I really felt like I could conquer the world. He was my favorite teacher, and it broke my heart to have had only that one class with him, but I’m glad that I meet him, because he influenced me in very positive ways. He taught me that improvement is not something to be feared, but something to welcome into our lives, and I want to improve every single day.”

What would you say is one of your most memorable moments as an Aggie?

“I’ve met so many people, that have made my time here at NMSU memorable. To narrow it down to just one would be impossible. However, I know for a fact that I couldn’t have done anything that I have accomplished without the help of Nancy Howell and Dr. Chung. They have been my bosses since my second semester. It’s going to be weird not going back to work.”

Memorable Moment as an Aggie:

“I have so many, but the moment that really takes the cake was when my first article appeared in Oncore Magazine. Of course I was proud of what I’d written, but I was really proud I chose such an important topic in the first place (The CALL closure) and ran with it.”

(SP 16)

Hometown:

“I am originally from Mexico City, but I moved to El Paso when I was 2. I have lived here ever since.”

Plans After Graduation:

“I really want to travel. I have never been to another country other than the one I am from so I want to explore for a couple of months. After I get that out of my system I definitely want to work in Advertising or Marketing. I would really love to go to California, Washington or somewhere far from home, somewhere I’d never dream of working. I am open to go anywhere that gives me an opportunity to excel.”

Memorable Moment as an Aggie:

“My first semester at NMSU was in the fall of 2014. I joined the Advertising Federation that semester, which is directed by Dr. Chung. I am now the President of our chapter and I love every part of it. I am 28 years old and I can honestly say that I actually love college, and that is all because of Adfed. The people I have met through this organization have definitely made an impact on me that I will never forget. The ups and downs make the 4 semesters I spent with NMSU so much more worth it then it could have ever been. So I don’t have just one memorable moment as an Aggie, there are 14 different faces that make me proud to be an Aggie!!!
