Alex Hinojosa
Biography
Alex Hinojosa is a tenure-track instructor at El Paso Community College. She received her bachelor's degree in journalism from UTEP and her master's degree in journalism from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where she interned for the Los Angeles Business Journal and worked as a public relations writer. She eventually returned to El Paso where she began reporting for the El Paso Times. Ms. Hinojosa was one of two education reporters for the newspaper who reported on El Paso's nine school districts. She also reported on the infamous EPISD cheating scandal, which earned her the 2013 School Bell Award from the Texas State Teacher's Association. Additionally, Ms. Hinojosa was part of the El Paso Times presidential coverage team during President Obama's visits to the Sun City and Fort Bliss. Ms. Hinojosa continues reporting today as a freelance journalist for the El Paso Herald-Post, El Paso Inc., and other publications. She has reported on presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein. In February 2016, she reported on Pope Francis' visit to Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, for the El Paso Herald-Post. Additional achievements include reporting for the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal in 2017.
