COVID-19 Important Information and Resources

In light of the current spread of COVID-19, the Department of Journalism and Media Studies has taken measures to comply with state mandates from the New Mexico Department of Health and Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, as well as NMSU systemwide guidance and directives. This page provides information on how the J&MS department will handle operations during this unprecedented time, as well as provide students with needed guidance and resources moving forward.

  • Please let someone from the J&MS department know you are OK. We’ve been trying to check in with you.  We know life has changed, and we want to know that you’re OK, and to remind you that faculty and staff are still here for you.
  • J&MS classes have moved online as of March 20, 2020.
  • Milton Hall remains closed and locked, as do our labs.
  • All J&MS faculty and staff are working from home for now, in accordance with state and NMSU campus community mandates.
  • All work requiring use of J&MS equipment is postponed until we can return to face-to-face teaching.
  • If you are concerned about equipment and/or internet access in order to complete required course work, contact Dr. Hwiman Chung or Ms. Barbara Franco via the contact information below.
  • NMSU has a dedicated page offering COVID-19 guidance and resources.
  • Many professors are opting to use a video conferencing app known as Zoom to facilitate online teaching. Please visit NMSU’s Academic Technology Zoom support page to get Zoom set up on your device(s).
