Biography

Dr. Doug Carr has been teaching at the college level since 1982 with assignments in Jefferson City, Missouri; Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington; St. Bonaventure University, in Olean, New York; and the University of Texas at El Paso communication department and office of student publications. Carr has been teaching journalism and mass communications at El Paso Community College since fall 2000 and was awarded tenure in 2009. Carr has taught courses in media law, advertising, public relations and print reporting at NMSU, as well as courses in digital reporting and feature writing. Carr's expertise lies within print, broadcast and converging new media, and he is well-versed in copy editing, feature writing and magazine writing instruction. His broadcast production and writing skills in both radio and television from professional and academic assignments round out his background. Dr. Carr has a bachelor of journalism degree in broadcasting, a master's in radio/TV/film and a Ph.D. in journalism, all awarded by the University of Missouri.
