Six students and one faculty member from the NMSU Department of Journalism and Media Studies attended the National Association of Hispanic Journalists International Training Convention and Expo in Miami earlier this month.
Students Noah Apodaca, Natalia Fernandez, Victor Fierro, Jorge Fonseca, Jennifer Hazlett and Abigail Salas, along with professor Hugo Perez, all traveled to the "Magic City" for an exciting week of hands-on training, professional development, networking and sightseeing.
Sponsored by NBCUniversal, the annual sold-out event was held at the Intercontinental Miami Hotel from July 11-15. In addition to a full schedule of workshops, lectures and social events, the convention featured dozens of exhibit booths. The students also had a chance to meet numerous high-profile journalists and other media professionals including NMSU alumnus and NBC national news correspondent, Gadi Schwartz.
